Seahorses and their related Pipefish are among the most photogenic of the reef creatures. Always shy and well camouflaged they inhabit shallow coral reefs, eating small crustaceans which are sucked whole into their long snouts.
Their reproductive behavior is unique. The female deposits eggs into an abdominal pouch on the male where fertilization takes place. The male then incubates the eggs until birth.
