Gallery quality underwater photographic print by Paul Waldeck, available framed or unframed in several sizes. The Blue Ring octopus is immediately recognizable by the distinctive blue rings which become more intense when the animal is aggravated or hunting. A small (adults are about 3 inches long) animal, it is an extremely toxic species which can inflict a fatal bite to humans. It is rarely seen and extremely shy. Unlike most members of the Octopus family the Blue Ring hunts during the day and is often found in the open on shallow reefs.
Photographed in Papua New Guinea. |
