Caledonian Stinger (Inimicus caledonicus)
[3286]
Gallery quality underwater photographic print by Paul Waldeck, available framed or unframed in several sizes.

A face only a mother could love. This unusual member of the Scorpionfish family rests on the bottom of sandy slopes and waits for unsuspecting prey to swim by. It's pectoral fins have developed into claw-like appendages with which it crawls along the bottom. Finding a likely ambush spot it will often bury itself in the sand with only its eyes showing

Photographed in the Solomon Islands
